God Honoring Music

Evelyn plays the piano and the concert pedal harp and has studied classical and sacred music. The Lord has given her opportunity to use the music in churches, nursing homes, and other ministries.

Our Music Philosophy

We believe that music is a special gift from God. The first mention of singing in the Bible is in Exodus after the Israelites crossed the Red Sea. Exodus 15:1 records the Israelites’ song of praise to the Lord for His deliverance: "I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously...." We believe that God created music for learning, enjoyment and to bring glory to Himself. All of our music should bring honor to the Lord.

It is our conviction that our music needs to reflect His holy and righteous character. Music affects us physically, mentally, and spiritually, and must follow scriptual guidelines. The guidelines for our meditation including music are set down in Philippians 4:8: "Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these things."

Specifically, any music with a driving rhythm, backbeat, association with sensuality, or demonic origin does not honor the Lord.
